Physicians are, in general, highly intelligent, well educated, caring, and articulate. Nonetheless, they often fail to succeed as witnesses. Why? More often than not, lawyers fail them in the critical process of preparation. Preparing the physician witness poses significant challenges. As in medicine, the difficulties vary from one ?patient? to another. Nevertheless, we need to work much harder together to diagnose the ?disease? (the medico-legal issue at stake), understand the symptoms, and apply successful treatments.
