Many of today’s physicians seek to reduce their work hours, take less
call, or increase vacation. It is important to be proactive and develop
a plan to address these requests so that both the physician and
practice know what to expect when physicians elect a work schedule that
differs from the norm. In this audio conference, we discuss the need
for a formal transition plan for your practice. We encourage you to
examine your philosophy regarding physicians who elect work slowdown or
retirement. For example, is a transition work schedule a “right” that
each physician has or is it a “privilege” that is to be earned? We
present the three phases of transition plan development and help you
understand the impact a change in the physician’s status has on
governance, on-call schedules, income distribution, and physician
compensation. Sample transition plans are presented and discussed so
that you have the tools you need to craft a transition plan that is
right for your practice!
